Learning Support Assistant
Temporary
Location: the North West
Start date: 13 October 2026
Are you from a care or support background and looking to help learners succeed in education?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the North West, working alongside teaching staff to support learners with additional learning needs. You'll work with learners one to one and in small groups, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence and develop independent learning skills.
No formal teaching qualification is required — what matters is genuine enthusiasm for supporting learners and the patience to meet them where they are.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional learning needs.
- Supporting lecturers to maintain an inclusive learning environment.
- Helping learners manage routines and navigate day-to-day life at the provider.
- Encouraging engagement, inclusion and positive behaviour.
- Safeguarding the wellbeing of vulnerable learners at all times.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience of supporting young people or adults in an educational, care or community setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, adaptable and proactive approach
- Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience of working with learners with SEN or SEMH needs
- Knowledge of additional learning needs and support strategies
- Up-to-date safeguarding training
If you're ready to help learners overcome the barriers in their way, we'd love to hear from you.
