Kitchen Assistant
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South East
Start date: 13 October 2026
About the Role
You'll join the catering team at a further education provider in the South East, supporting the day-to-day running of a busy kitchen.
Working alongside chefs and catering staff, you'll help keep food preparation, service and cleaning running smoothly throughout the day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with basic food preparation and portioning in line with instructions from the kitchen team.
- Supporting service at busy periods and helping to keep counters and service areas well stocked.
- Washing up, cleaning equipment and maintaining a tidy, hygienic kitchen environment.
- Receiving and storing deliveries correctly, following food safety and stock rotation procedures.
- Following health, safety and food hygiene standards at all times.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A willingness to work as part of a busy kitchen team
- A reliable, flexible approach to shifts and tasks
- An understanding of the importance of cleanliness and food hygiene
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or hospitality setting
- A Food Safety and Hygiene certificate
