Heavy Vehicle Trainer/Assessor
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South West
Start date: 7 September 2026
Are you an experienced heavy vehicle technician ready to pass your skills on to the next generation?
About the Role
We're recruiting a Heavy Vehicle Trainer/Assessor to join a further education provider in the South West. You'll train and assess learners and apprentices working towards heavy vehicle qualifications, bringing your trade experience into your delivery and helping them build the skills and confidence to progress in the industry.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering practical workshop and classroom-based heavy vehicle sessions.
- Assessing learners' competence and giving clear, constructive feedback against assessment criteria.
- Monitoring progress and putting support in place where learners need it.
- Maintaining accurate records of attendance, achievement and progress.
- Creating a safe, inclusive learning environment in which every learner is challenged and supported.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair or a closely related discipline
- Occupational experience gained in the heavy vehicle industry
- The ability to engage and motivate learners of differing abilities
Desirable (but not essential):
- An assessor qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience of training, assessing or mentoring
