Hairdressing Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East Midlands
Start date: 24 September 2026
Are you an experienced hairdressing professional looking to pass your craft on to the next generation of stylists?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider to deliver practical and theory hairdressing sessions to learners working towards industry-recognised qualifications.
You'll bring the salon floor into the classroom, teaching the cutting, colouring and styling techniques learners need alongside the professional standards employers expect.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory hairdressing sessions.
- Assessing learners' work and tracking their progress towards their qualifications.
- Supporting curriculum development and the day-to-day running of training salon sessions.
- Encouraging learners to build the confidence, professionalism and employability skills the industry asks for.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Substantial vocational experience as a qualified hairdresser or salon professional
- Level 3 Hairdressing qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong practical and technical knowledge across cutting, colouring and styling
- Clear communication skills and enthusiasm for supporting learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience of teaching, assessing or instructing learners
- A recognised teaching or assessing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
