Groundsperson
Temporary | Contract
Start date: 6 October 2026
About the Role
An education provider is seeking a Groundsperson to help keep their outdoor spaces safe, tidy and well presented for learners, staff and visitors.
You'll take care of the grounds and external areas day to day, working on your own initiative and alongside colleagues across the site. It's a practical, hands-on role for someone who takes pride in the appearance and upkeep of an environment where learning can continue without interruption.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining lawns, planted areas, hedges and external grounds throughout the year.
- Keeping paths, car parks and outdoor areas clean, tidy and free from hazards.
- Operating and carrying out basic maintenance on grounds machinery and equipment.
- Reporting defects, damage and any health and safety concerns promptly.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous grounds maintenance, gardening or landscaping experience
- Confidence using grounds machinery and hand tools safely
- A reliable, flexible approach and the ability to work on your own initiative
- An awareness of health and safety in a working environment
Desirable (but not essential):
- A relevant horticulture or grounds maintenance qualification
- Experience of working on a school, college or other large site
- A full driving licence
