Job Description

GCSE Maths Lecturer

Temporary | Contract

Location: the North West

Start date: 4 September 2026

About the Role

A further education provider in the North West is looking for a GCSE Maths Lecturer to teach learners who are resitting Maths alongside their main study programme. You'll support them towards a Grade 4 and help them build the numeracy skills they need for work, further study and everyday life.

Working as part of an established Maths team, you'll deliver lessons to mixed-ability groups and keep learners motivated and progressing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and accessible GCSE Maths lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
  • Planning and preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
  • Tracking learner progress, marking work and providing timely feedback.
  • Supporting students with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
  • Working collaboratively with the Maths team and wider curriculum staff.
  • Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience teaching GCSE Maths within further education or secondary education
  • A recognised UK teaching qualification — QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS, DET or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent
  • A Maths-specific qualification or strong numeracy background
  • Sound understanding of the GCSE specification and effective resit strategies
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire learners

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience of differentiating and adapting teaching for varied learning needs

If you're ready to help learners achieve the Maths grade that opens doors for them, we'd love to hear from you.
