About the Role

A further education provider in the North West is looking for a GCSE English Lecturer to teach learners who are resitting English alongside their main study programme. You'll support them towards a Grade 4 and help them build the literacy and communication skills they need for work, further study and everyday life.

Working as part of an established English team, you'll deliver lessons to mixed-ability groups and keep learners motivated and progressing.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering engaging and accessible GCSE English lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
• Planning and preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
• Tracking learner progress, marking work and providing timely feedback.
• Supporting students with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
• Working collaboratively with the English team and wider curriculum staff.
• Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience teaching GCSE English within further education or secondary education
• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed, DET or a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
• A strong understanding of the GCSE specification and effective resit strategies
• The ability to differentiate and adapt your teaching to varied learning needs
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire learners

Desirable (but not essential):

• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area
• Experience of embedding English within vocational programmes
