GCSE English Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in Yorkshire and the Humber on a temporary contract basis, delivering GCSE English to learners as part of their study programme. This is a fixed-term assignment starting on 9 October 2026, offering the chance to bring your subject expertise into the classroom on a flexible, contract basis through Dovetail & Slate.
You'll plan and deliver engaging GCSE English lessons, helping learners build the skills and confidence they need to achieve their qualification, whether they are resitting the subject or studying it for the first time within a wider programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering GCSE English lessons to further education learners.
- Assessing learner progress and providing constructive, timely feedback.
- Preparing learners for GCSE English assessments and examinations.
- Maintaining accurate records of learner attendance, progress and attainment.
- Adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of a range of learners.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A degree in English or a closely related subject
- Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE English, or a strong working knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum
- The ability to engage and motivate learners of varying ability and confidence
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification (such as a PGCE, Cert Ed or DET)
- Experience working with post-16 or further education learners
