GCSE English Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
Start date: 15 September 2026
Are you a GCSE English specialist who enjoys helping resit learners finally get the grade they need?
About the Role
A further education provider in Yorkshire and the Humber is looking for a GCSE English Lecturer to join its teaching team. You'll deliver GCSE English to 16-18 learners, many of whom are working towards a Grade 4 alongside their main study programme.
You'll use both contextualised and non-contextualised resources to make the subject relevant, and you'll keep a close eye on progress so that no one slips behind.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging GCSE English lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, resources and assessments.
- Marking work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Tracking learner progress and supporting those with gaps in their knowledge.
- Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong subject knowledge in GCSE English and a good understanding of resit delivery
- Confident classroom management and communication skills
- Confidence with digital teaching
- Availability Monday to Friday
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd or Level 5 DET, or willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience of teaching GCSE English in a further education setting
