About the Role

You'll join a further education provider in Yorkshire and the Humber, delivering GCSE English to learners resitting the qualification as part of their study programme. You'll support them to work towards a Grade 4 and to build the literacy and communication skills they'll rely on in work, life and further study.

You'll teach groups of mixed ability, adapting your approach so that learners who have not previously succeeded in English can make progress and rebuild their confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering engaging and accessible GCSE English lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
• Planning and preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
• Tracking learner progress, marking work and providing timely feedback.
• Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building confidence and motivation.
• Working collaboratively with the English team and wider curriculum staff.
• Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience teaching GCSE English within further education or secondary education
• A recognised UK teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS, DET or the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
• Strong understanding of the GCSE specification and effective resit strategies
• Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire learners

Desirable (but not essential):

• A degree-level qualification in English or a related subject
• Experience of standardisation and internal quality assurance
