Foundation Learning Lecturer

Temporary

Location: London

Start date: 6 September 2026

Are you an experienced Foundation Learning lecturer or SEND tutor looking for your next opportunity?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider in London, delivering Foundation Learning to students who need additional learning support. You'll plan and adapt sessions around individual needs, building learners' communication, independence and life skills alongside their academic progress.

You'll work closely with learning support assistants and other professionals to keep the classroom structured, inclusive and encouraging.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for Foundation Learning students.
  • Supporting learners to develop communication, independence and practical life skills.
  • Shaping learning around individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Monitoring, recording and assessing learner progress.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and learner engagement.
  • Working closely with learning support assistants and other professionals.
  • Contributing to progression and review planning.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Full Level 5 teaching qualification – PGCE, Cert Ed or DET
  • Experience teaching SEND learners, including autism, learning difficulties and/or complex needs
  • Understanding of EHCPs and person-centred approaches
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • A patient, flexible and learner-focused approach

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience working with Pre-Entry or low-level learners
  • Assessor or verifier awards
