English Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the West Midlands
Are you an experienced English teacher looking for your next opportunity within further education?
About the Role
As an English Lecturer, you'll deliver high-quality English teaching for a further education provider, helping learners build the literacy and communication skills they need to progress into further study and employment.
You'll plan and deliver engaging sessions to learners of mixed abilities, assess work against awarding body requirements and work alongside the wider teaching team to maintain strong standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering English sessions across a range of levels and abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learner work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Supporting learners to build confidence, motivation and independence.
- Contributing to curriculum planning and quality improvement.
- Keeping accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Subject knowledge and experience in English
- Experience of teaching or training, ideally within further education
- Ability to adapt your teaching to varied learning needs
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DET or QTLS
- Experience of assessing against awarding body requirements
