English Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East of England
Start date: 15 October 2026
Are you an experienced English specialist looking to help learners gain the qualifications that open doors?
About the role
You'll plan, deliver and assess engaging English programmes for a further education provider, supporting learners to build the reading, writing and communication skills they need for work, life and further study.
Working across a range of levels and with learners of mixed abilities, you'll create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment, monitor progress and adapt your teaching to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, delivering and assessing English programmes across a range of levels.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Monitoring learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
- Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with the wider curriculum team.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Subject expertise in English
- Experience of teaching English in further education or secondary education
- Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills
- The ability to differentiate and adapt your teaching to varied learning needs
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DET or equivalent
