English Lecturer

Temporary

Location: the South East

Are you an experienced English teacher or lecturer looking for your next opportunity?

About the Role

As an English Lecturer, you'll plan and deliver engaging English lessons for a training provider, helping learners gain the qualifications and confidence they need to progress. You'll adapt your teaching to suit a wide range of abilities and learning styles, many of them learners working towards or resitting key English qualifications.

Alongside delivery, you'll assess work, give timely feedback and track progress, working closely with curriculum and support colleagues to keep learners engaged and achieving.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated English lessons.
  • Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessment activities.
  • Assessing, reviewing and tracking learner progress and achievement.
  • Providing timely, constructive feedback to support learners towards their qualifications.
  • Working alongside teaching and learning support colleagues to ensure inclusive practice.
  • Supporting learners to progress into further education, employment or training.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Strong subject knowledge in English or a related subject
  • Experience of teaching English to post-16 learners
  • A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
  • The ability to adapt teaching to a range of abilities and individual needs
  • Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience of teaching within further education
  • Experience of supporting resit learners
  • A degree in English or a related subject
