English Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: London
Start date: September 2026
About the Role
You'll join an education provider as an English Lecturer, delivering English to post-16 learners across a range of programmes and helping them gain the qualification they need to move on to further study, training or work.
You'll plan and deliver lessons to mixed-ability groups, track progress and give learners the feedback and encouragement they need to build confidence in their reading and writing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging English lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learners' work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Tracking progress and supporting learners with gaps in their knowledge.
- Working with curriculum and support colleagues to ensure inclusive practice.
- Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience teaching English to post-16 or secondary learners
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Ability to adapt teaching to varied learning needs
- Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience teaching within further education
- Experience supporting resit learners
