Curriculum Manager - Counselling

Temporary | Contract

Location: London

Start date: 2 September 2026

Are you an experienced curriculum leader with a strong counselling background, ready to take on the leadership of a provision in further education?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider to lead, manage and develop the counselling provision, taking responsibility for high-quality teaching, learner achievement and curriculum growth.

You'll lead and develop the teaching team, oversee quality assurance and improvement planning, and drive improvements in recruitment, retention, achievement and learner experience. Alongside your leadership duties, you'll carry a teaching commitment of approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, depending on service requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing counselling curriculum delivery across the provision.
  • Driving improvements in recruitment, retention, achievement and learner experience.
  • Leading and developing teaching teams to support high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Overseeing quality assurance, lesson observations, self-assessment and improvement planning.
  • Managing curriculum performance, learner progress and achievement targets.
  • Developing and improving the counselling and mental health curriculum offer.
  • Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contributing to curriculum planning, strategic development and resource management.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience as a Curriculum Manager, Head of Curriculum, Programme Manager or similar
  • A strong background in counselling and/or mental health
  • A full teaching qualification, due to the teaching commitment
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in counselling, mental health or a related subject
  • Experience of leading and developing teaching teams within further education
  • A strong understanding of quality assurance and curriculum improvement
  • Proven experience of improving learner recruitment, retention and achievement
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
