Catering Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the North West
Start date: October 2026
Are you an experienced chef or catering professional ready to pass your skills on to the next generation?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the North West, delivering theory and practical teaching across catering and professional cookery programmes. You'll work with learners in the classroom and the training kitchen, building the technical skills and professional standards the hospitality industry expects.
If you're coming straight from industry, that's welcomed. Teaching experience isn't essential, and you'll be supported to work towards a recognised teaching qualification.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging practical and theory sessions across catering and food preparation programmes.
- Planning lessons, assessing learner work and giving constructive feedback.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, health and safety in the training kitchen.
- Motivating learners to achieve their potential and progress into employment or further training.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in catering, professional cookery or hospitality
- Industry experience in commercial kitchens, catering or food service
- Strong practical knowledge of food preparation, service and food safety
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching or assessing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Experience of supporting learners with varied needs in a vocational setting
