Job Description
Carpentry Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the South East
Start date: November 2026
Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?
About the Role
As a Carpentry Lecturer, you'll deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment across carpentry and joinery programmes at a further education provider, helping learners build the practical skills, technical knowledge and confidence they need to progress in the industry.
Working closely with colleagues in the team, you'll teach in both workshop and classroom settings, track learner progress and prepare learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
If you don't yet hold a teaching qualification, this could still be the role for you. Our client welcomes applications from industry professionals and offers support to help you move into teaching.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching carpentry and joinery programmes from entry level through to Level 3.
- Delivering practical workshop sessions alongside classroom-based theory.
- Developing learning resources, schemes of work and assessments.
- Assessing, reviewing and tracking learner progress, and providing timely feedback.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety within workshop and training areas.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery or a related construction discipline
- Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery
- Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and maths
- A genuine passion for developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one with support
- An assessor qualification such as CAVA or TAQA
- Previous experience of teaching or mentoring in further education
Shape the Next Generation of Craftspeople
If you're ready to pass on your trade and help learners build a career in construction, we'd love to hear from you.
What's on Offer
- Support to gain teaching qualification if not already held
