Carpentry Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South West
Salary: £50 per hour
Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the South West, teaching carpentry and joinery to learners working towards industry-recognised qualifications. You'll split your time between the workshop and the classroom, bringing your trade experience into every session.
You'll plan and deliver practical and theory sessions, assess learner progress and prepare students for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching carpentry and joinery programmes from entry level to Level 3.
- Delivering practical workshop sessions alongside classroom-based theory.
- Developing learning resources and assessing learner progress against trade standards.
- Maintaining health and safety standards in the workshop at all times.
- Preparing learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery or a related construction discipline
- Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery
- A genuine interest in developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Assessor qualifications
