Carpentry Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East of England
Start date: 7 October 2026
Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?
About the role
As a Carpentry Lecturer, you'll plan and deliver engaging practical and theory sessions that build the hand skills, site awareness and professional confidence your learners need to succeed.
Working with a further education provider, you'll teach across the carpentry and joinery programme, adapting your approach to a range of abilities and helping every learner progress. You'll monitor progress closely and give the feedback and encouragement that keeps students on track.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering carpentry and joinery lessons that are engaging and well structured.
- Developing learners' practical skills through supervised workshop training.
- Teaching safe working practices and health and safety compliance in the workshop.
- Assessing, marking and providing constructive feedback to support learner progress.
- Preparing learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery or a related construction discipline
- Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery
- Strong communication skills and a genuine drive to develop young trade professionals
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- An assessor qualification
