Job Description

Carpentry Lecturer

Temporary | Contract

Start date: 5 October 2026

Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider, delivering carpentry and joinery training to learners working towards their qualifications. Across both classroom sessions and practical workshops, you'll bring your trade experience into the teaching environment and help learners build the skills employers are looking for.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging theory and practical carpentry sessions.
  • Adapting your teaching to meet the individual needs of learners.
  • Assessing learner work and tracking progress towards qualification completion.
  • Producing learning resources to support the programme.
  • Keeping accurate records and completing associated administrative tasks.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 3 (or higher) qualification in carpentry and joinery or a related construction discipline
  • Trade experience you can draw on in the workshop and classroom
  • The ability to motivate and support learners to achieve

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A teaching or assessing qualification
  • Previous experience of delivering training in a further education setting
