Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner ready to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

Working with a further education provider in the South East, you'll deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across carpentry and joinery programmes, helping learners build the practical skills, technical knowledge and professional standards the construction industry expects.

You'll plan and deliver sessions across both workshop and classroom settings, assess and track progress, and support learners through their qualifications and on to employment or further study.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering lessons across carpentry and joinery qualifications.
• Teaching practical workshop skills alongside underpinning theory and health and safety.
• Assessing and monitoring learner progress, and providing constructive feedback.
• Preparing learners for assessments, qualifications and progression into employment or apprenticeships.
• Creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where learners feel supported to succeed.
• Working with colleagues across the team to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• A Level 3 qualification or higher in carpentry and joinery, or a related construction discipline
• Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery
• Level 2 or equivalent in English and maths
• A genuine commitment to developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople

Desirable (but not essential):

• A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or Level 5 DET
• An assessor qualification such as CAVA or A1
• Previous experience of teaching or mentoring in a further education setting

You don't need teaching experience to apply. If you're coming straight from the tools, you'll be supported to make the move into the classroom.
