Job Description

Carpentry and Joinery Tutor

Temporary | Contract

Location: the West Midlands

Start date: 12 October 2026

Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to pass on your trade skills and inspire the next generation?

About the Role

You'll join an education provider in the West Midlands, delivering carpentry and joinery training to learners working towards practical qualifications. You'll combine classroom sessions with hands-on workshop delivery, drawing on your own time on the tools to bring the trade to life.

You'll support learners to build the practical skills, confidence and workplace behaviours they need to move into employment, apprenticeships or further study.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging carpentry and joinery lessons and practical workshop sessions.
  • Planning and preparing learning resources suited to the needs of your learners.
  • Assessing learner progress and providing feedback that keeps them on track.
  • Maintaining a safe, structured and encouraging workshop environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 2 (or higher) qualification in carpentry and joinery
  • Substantial practical industry experience in the trade
  • A genuine interest in developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and maths
  • Previous experience of teaching, tutoring, assessing or mentoring

If you're ready to step off the tools and into a role where your trade knowledge shapes careers, we'd love to hear from you.
