Job Description

Brickwork Lecturer

Temporary

Location: the East of England

Pay: £50 per hour

Start date: 15 October 2026

Are you an experienced bricklayer looking to pass your trade skills on to the next generation?

About the role

As a Brickwork Lecturer, you'll plan and deliver engaging theory and practical sessions that build the technical knowledge, hands-on skills and professional confidence your learners need to succeed. You'll bring real-world industry insight into the classroom and workshop, giving learners context alongside the theory that underpins it.

Working with a further education provider, you'll teach across the brickwork programme, adapting your approach to a range of levels and helping every learner progress. You'll monitor progress closely and give the feedback and encouragement that keeps learners on track.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering brickwork theory and practical sessions that are engaging and well structured.
  • Preparing schemes of work, resources and assessments that support progression and achievement.
  • Assessing learners' knowledge and practical skills and marking work accurately.
  • Providing timely, constructive feedback that helps learners improve.
  • Maintaining a safe, organised workshop environment in line with industry standards.
  • Tracking learner performance and putting interventions in place where needed.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in brickwork
  • Strong industry background in bricklaying and masonry
  • Good communication and workshop management skills
  • A sound understanding of current industry standards and safe working practices

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A teaching or assessing qualification
  • Previous experience of teaching or mentoring apprentices
