Biology Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South West
Start date: 7 September 2026
Are you a Biology specialist who enjoys seeing learners grasp a concept for the first time?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the South West to plan, deliver and assess Biology across its programmes. You'll teach both theory and practical sessions, preparing learners for external assessment and supporting them to progress into higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
You'll be part of a supportive teaching team, contributing to the quality of the curriculum as well as the day-to-day classroom experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment in Biology.
- Developing learning resources tailored to the needs of your learners.
- Preparing learners thoroughly for external examinations in line with awarding body requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records of learner performance and completing associated administration.
- Contributing to internal quality procedures and programme reviews.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology
- Experience teaching or assessing learners
- Confidence delivering both theory and practical sessions
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable (but not essential):
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience of GCSE, A Level or BTEC Science delivery
