Job Description

Behaviour and Support Practitioner

Temporary | Contract

Location: the East Midlands

About the Role

A further education provider in the East Midlands is looking for a Behaviour and Support Practitioner to join them on a contract basis. You'll work with learners who face barriers to engagement, helping them build the confidence, routines and self-management they need to stay in learning and achieve.

You'll work closely with teaching and support colleagues, offering practical strategies in and around the classroom and keeping clear records of the support you put in place.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to learners with behavioural and additional needs.
  • Agreeing and implementing individual support strategies alongside tutors and support staff.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitoring learner progress and keeping accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Advising colleagues on approaches that help learners engage and remain in learning.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience of supporting young people or adults with behavioural or additional learning needs
  • A calm, resilient and patient approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners
  • Good organisational skills and accurate record keeping

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification or above
  • Experience of working in a further education or training environment

If you're ready to help learners overcome the barriers in their way, we'd love to hear from you.
