A-Level Biology Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the East Midlands
Are you a biology specialist who would enjoy stretching able learners through their A-Level studies?
About the Role
A further education provider in the East Midlands is looking for an A-Level Biology Lecturer to join its teaching team. You'll deliver engaging lessons across A-Level Biology, helping learners build the subject knowledge, technique and confidence they need to progress into higher education or employment.
You'll be part of a supportive department, with the scope to bring your own subject expertise into the classroom and laboratory.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering high-quality teaching across A-Level Biology programmes.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment materials.
- Delivering both theory and practical sessions in line with awarding body requirements.
- Monitoring learner progress, marking work and providing timely feedback.
- Supporting learners of differing abilities to reach their target grades.
- Maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A degree or Level 3 qualification or higher in biology or a closely related subject
- Strong subject knowledge and a good understanding of the A-Level curriculum
- Confidence delivering both theory and practical lessons
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, QTS or QTLS
- Previous experience teaching in a further education setting
