Job Description
Welding Assessor/Tutor
Permanent
Location: Essex
Salary: Up to £42,000
Are you an experienced welding professional looking to inspire and develop the next generation of fabricators and welders?
About the role
You'll design, plan, deliver and assess engaging welding programmes, combining practical workshop teaching with the underpinning theory learners need to succeed. Working across a range of levels, you'll bring your industry experience into the workshop, helping learners build the knowledge and skills that employers value.
You'll create a positive and supportive learning environment, monitor learner progress and adapt your teaching to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners. As an assessor, you'll carry out fair and accurate assessments, giving learners clear feedback that helps them move forward.
If you come from industry rather than teaching, that's welcome. Our client offers support to help you move into education and develop in your role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, planning, delivering and assessing welding programmes across a range of levels.
- Delivering a mix of practical workshop teaching and underpinning theory.
- Assessing learner work fairly and accurately, and providing constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
- Creating a safe, positive and supportive learning environment in the workshop.
- Working with colleagues to keep the curriculum current and relevant to the sector.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Occupational experience in welding and fabrication
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in welding
- The ability to teach and assess across a range of levels
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to learner success
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised assessor qualification
- A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience teaching or assessing in a further education setting
Shape the next generation of welders
If you're ready to bring your industry experience into the classroom and workshop, and to help learners build the skills that employers value, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today.

- Support to transition from industry to education
- Professional development opportunities
