Principal
Temporary | Contract
Location: the North West
Start date: November 2026
About the Role
A further education provider in the North West is looking for a Principal to lead the day-to-day running and ongoing development of its provision.
You'll take overall responsibility for quality of teaching and learning, learner outcomes and the performance of your staff teams. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you'll set clear standards, build a positive culture and make sure learners are well supported from enrolment through to progression.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic and operational leadership across the centre.
- Leading, developing and holding to account teaching and support teams.
- Driving quality of provision, learner achievement and progression outcomes.
- Overseeing curriculum planning and delivery so that it meets learner and employer needs.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory, funding and awarding body requirements.
- Building and maintaining relationships with employers, partners and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Significant leadership or management experience within further education
- A strong track record of improving quality of teaching, learning and learner outcomes
- Experience of leading and developing staff teams
- Sound understanding of compliance, funding and inspection requirements
- Confident stakeholder and partnership-building skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Experience of leading provision across more than one site
