Job Description

Job Title: Occupational Health Advisor

Location: North East

Hours: Part-time (18.5 hours)

Contract Type: Permanent

A leading further and higher education institution is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to deliver a high-quality, professional, and consistent on-site occupational health service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Lead a varied caseload of occupational health referrals, providing clear, actionable guidance on workplace adjustments and health recommendations.
  • Advisory Support: Deliver confidential, professional advice to both management and staff in line with industry best practice.
  • Assessments & Surveillance: Conduct pre-employment health assessments, manage sickness absence reviews, and oversee health surveillance programmes.
  • Health Promotion: Actively promote and support the physical and mental well-being of all employees across the organisation.
  • Safety & Compliance: Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure full alignment with occupational health and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with a specialist qualification or proven track record in Occupational Health.
  • Demonstrable experience handling sickness absence, pre-employment screenings, and health surveillance.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health legislation and best practice guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear advice on complex health matters confidentially.
