Temporary
Location: the North East
Start date: October 2026
Are you an experienced childcare or health and social care professional looking to pass on your knowledge to the next generation?
About the Role
A further education provider in the North East is looking for a Lecturer in Childcare/Health and Social Care to join its teaching team from October 2026. You'll deliver classroom-based teaching to post-16 learners working towards vocational qualifications in childcare and health and social care, bringing your sector experience into the classroom.
You'll support learners of mixed abilities and backgrounds, helping them build the practical skills, knowledge and confidence they need to progress into employment or further study.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging sessions across childcare and health and social care programmes.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment materials.
- Assessing learner work, tracking progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Adapting your teaching and resources to meet a range of learning needs.
- Working with curriculum colleagues and support staff to ensure inclusive practice.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Health and Social Care
- Occupational experience in a childcare, health or social care setting
- The ability to engage and motivate post-16 learners
- Commitment to supporting learners from diverse backgrounds
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience of teaching, training or assessing
