About the Role
We're recruiting an Independent Living Learning Support Assistant to join a further education provider in the South West. You'll support learners with special educational needs and disabilities as they work towards independent living goals, both in the classroom and in practical, everyday settings.
You'll adapt your approach to suit each learner, working alongside teaching staff to create a calm, inclusive environment in which every learner can take part and progress at their own pace.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional needs.
- Supporting learners to develop independent living and daily life skills.
- Working alongside teaching staff to help learners engage with sessions and activities.
- Encouraging learners to build confidence, independence and practical skills.
- Supporting learners in line with their individual EHCP requirements.
- Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience of supporting learners with special educational needs and disabilities
- An understanding of what an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) is and how it informs support
- Confidence working both one to one and within a classroom setting
- Patience, sensitivity and strong communication skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience working within the further education sector
- Experience of supporting learners with independent living or daily life skills
If you're ready to help learners build the confidence and independence to reach their goals, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today.
