Job Description

GCSE Maths Lecturer

Temporary | Contract

Location: the North West

Start date: 2 November 2026

About the Role

A further education provider in the North West is looking for a GCSE Maths Lecturer to join its team and support learners to achieve their maths qualifications.

You'll plan and deliver engaging lessons to learners of mixed abilities, many of them resitting GCSE Maths alongside a vocational programme. You'll track progress, mark work and give the feedback and encouragement that helps learners build their confidence with numbers.

Working alongside curriculum colleagues, you'll help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom where every learner feels able to move forward.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging GCSE Maths lessons to learners of varying abilities.
  • Planning schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
  • Tracking learner progress, marking work and providing timely feedback.
  • Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge to build confidence and motivation.
  • Working collaboratively with the maths team and wider curriculum staff.
  • Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Relevant subject knowledge in maths
  • Experience of teaching GCSE Maths in further education or secondary education
  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd or Level 5 DET
  • Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Understanding of effective GCSE resit strategies
  • Experience of embedding maths within vocational programmes

If you're ready to help learners achieve the maths grade that opens doors for them, we'd love to hear from you.
