English Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South West
Are you an experienced English teacher looking for your next role in further education?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the South West, teaching English to learners working towards recognised qualifications. You'll support students of mixed abilities to build the reading, writing and communication skills they need for work, further study and everyday life.
You'll plan and deliver engaging sessions, assess learner progress and help students achieve their goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching English programmes across a range of levels.
- Planning and delivering classroom-based sessions for learners of mixed abilities.
- Developing learning resources and assessing learner progress against course standards.
- Tracking progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Supporting learners to overcome individual barriers to learning.
- Preparing learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A relevant English or subject-related qualification
- Experience of teaching English in further education or secondary education
- The ability to engage and motivate learners of mixed abilities
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DET or QTLS
- Experience of supporting learners on vocational programmes
