Are you an experienced construction professional ready to step into a leadership role within further education?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider as Deputy Head of Construction, supporting the Head of Department in leading staff and learners across the construction curriculum.

You'll help ensure teaching, learning and assessment are delivered to a high standard, keeping learner progress on track and supporting colleagues to do their best work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Head of Department in the leadership and day-to-day management of the construction curriculum area.
• Leading, motivating and supporting teaching staff, including their performance and professional development.
• Overseeing the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across construction programmes.
• Monitoring learner attendance, progress, achievement and retention.
• Contributing to self-assessment and quality improvement planning.
• Deputising for the Head of Department when required.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Substantial industry experience within a construction discipline
• A relevant vocational qualification in construction
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
• The ability to lead a team and maintain high professional standards

Desirable (but not essential):

• Previous curriculum or departmental leadership experience within further education
• A teaching or assessor qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
