Are you an experienced carpenter looking to pass your trade on to the next generation?

About the Role

A further education provider in the North West is looking for a Carpentry Assessor to assess learners and apprentices against occupational standards in the workplace and in the learning environment.

You'll manage a caseload of learners, planning and carrying out assessments, giving clear feedback and keeping everyone on track to achieve. You'll work closely with employers across the area, so you'll need to be comfortable travelling between sites and managing your own diary.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out workplace assessments for carpentry apprentices in line with apprenticeship standards.
• Planning assessment visits with learners and their employers.
• Monitoring and reviewing learner progress, and stepping in early where someone is falling behind.
• Giving clear, constructive feedback that helps learners move forward.
• Maintaining accurate learner records in line with awarding body requirements.
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with employers across the area.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• A Level 3 (or higher) qualification in carpentry and joinery
• Up-to-date trade knowledge and hands-on industry experience
• Full UK driving licence and access to own transport for employer site visits
• Strong communication skills and the ability to give constructive feedback
• Good organisational and time-management skills

Desirable (but not essential):

• A recognised assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA or A1)
• A teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
• Experience of e-portfolio systems and qualification frameworks
