Carpentry Assessor

Location: Northamptonshire

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent

A leading further education college based in Northamptonshire is looking for a passionate and experienced Carpentry Assessor to join their team and support the development of the next generation of trade professionals.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with apprentices and learners, guiding them through their qualifications and helping them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace assessments for Carpentry apprentices in line with apprenticeship standards.
  • Provide tailored support, feedback, and guidance to learners to support their progress.
  • Monitor and record learner achievements using digital platforms and e-portfolios.
  • Liaise with employers and training providers to coordinate assessment visits.
  • Ensure all assessments comply with awarding body and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of learner progress and outcomes.

Person Specification

  • Vocational qualification in Carpentry at Level 3 or above.
  • Recognized Assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA, or A1).
  • Up-to-date industry knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Level 4 teaching qualification (or a willingness to work towards one).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own transport for regular employer site visits.
  • Strong communication skills with a proven track record of delivering constructive feedback.
  • Familiarity with qualification frameworks, regulatory bodies, and e-portfolio systems.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
