Vocational Trainer in Electrical Engineering
Temporary
Location: the North West
Start date: 21 September 2026
Are you an experienced electrical engineering professional ready to pass your trade on to the next generation?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the North West, training learners in electrical engineering and supporting them to build the occupational competence they need to progress into the industry.
You'll deliver both practical workshop sessions and underpinning theory, keeping your delivery grounded in current industry standards and assessing learners' progress as they work towards their qualifications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering practical and theory training in electrical engineering across a range of levels.
- Planning and preparing schemes of work, practical sessions, lesson resources and assessments.
- Assessing learners' work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and supporting those with gaps in knowledge.
- Working with curriculum colleagues to support achievement and retention.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related discipline
- Industry experience in the electrical trade
- Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check
Desirable (but not essential):
- An assessor qualification such as CAVA, A1 or D32/D33
- A teaching qualification such as AET, CertEd or PGCE
- Experience of training or assessing in a further education or work-based setting
