About the Opportunity
At Dovetail and Slate, we are leading the search for exceptional talent to join a successful partner college. By stepping into this role, you will play a vital part in nurturing the next generation of professionals—from construction workers and engineers to healthcare staff and beyond.
The college is continually striving to improve and innovate, and this is your chance to be part of that story.
The Role
We are looking for three dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work within the college's Maths, English, and ESOL departments. Based across the Waterfront and Pioneer centres, your primary focus will be supporting adult learners and apprentices with SEND to develop and improve their essential literacy and numeracy skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging group learning activities both inside and outside the classroom, collaborating closely with college tutors.
Identify individual SEND needs using initial assessments.
Create comprehensive inclusion plans for other education staff to follow.
Collaborate across departments to champion a whole-college approach to SEND.
Embody the college's core values of Kindness, Unity, and Excellence.
About You
You are an effective communicator who inspires high aspirations and adapts well to change. To excel in this role, you will need:
Essential: A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Desirable: A Teaching Assistant qualification (or a willingness to work toward one).
Experience: Previous experience working in a post-16 environment with learners who have additional learning needs.
Flexibility: Ability to work flexibly around a 38-week curriculum and classroom delivery times (shifts fall between 8:30am and 9:00pm).
> Note on Safeguarding: Due to the nature of this work, an absolute commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults is essential.
