Job Title – Primary SEND Teacher
Salary – £32,000–£42,000 Location – Manchester Contract Type - Permanent
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient educator to deliver tailored learning experiences for primary-aged pupils with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs.
This specialist alternative provision provides a supportive and structured environment for children who require a bespoke approach to their education. The setting focuses on holistic development to ensure every student can overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualised lesson plans that cater to the specific academic and developmental requirements of Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils.
- Foster a secure and predictable classroom atmosphere by applying nurture-based principles and robust therapeutic techniques.
- Lead interventions in core subjects such as literacy and numeracy while integrating sensory and emotional regulation strategies into the daily routine.
- Monitor student growth meticulously to provide detailed evidence for Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments and reviews.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and support staff, to ensure a cohesive approach to each child's wellbeing.
- Equip pupils with the essential social skills and routines necessary for a confident transition into secondary education.
Essential Requirements
- Holds valid UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Demonstrable experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within a specialist or high-needs environment.
- Proven ability to manage challenging situations with composure using advanced de-escalation and behaviour support methods.
- Competency in tracking non-linear progress and adapting curriculum delivery for diverse learning profiles.
- Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding protocols and a commitment to protecting vulnerable learners.
- Possession of an enhanced DBS check or a willingness to undergo immediate vetting.
