Science Technician
Temporary

About the role
An education provider is looking for a Science Technician to support the smooth running of their practical science lessons. You'll work alongside teaching staff to make sure equipment, materials and resources are prepared, safe and ready when they're needed.
It's a hands-on role suited to someone practical and well organised, who enjoys being part of the day-to-day life of a busy science department.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing equipment, materials and resources ahead of practical lessons and demonstrations.
- Setting up and clearing away apparatus before and after sessions.
- Maintaining, cleaning and checking science equipment, and reporting faults.
- Supporting teaching staff during practical sessions.
- Managing stock levels and ordering consumables as required.
- Following health and safety procedures, including the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Practical skills and a good working knowledge of science equipment and materials
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative
- An understanding of health and safety in a laboratory environment
- Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential):
- A relevant science qualification
- Previous experience as a technician in a school or college laboratory
