Premises Assistant
Temporary
Start date: 16 October 2026
About the role
An education provider is looking for a Premises Assistant to help keep their site safe, secure and well maintained. You'll carry out day-to-day caretaking and minor repairs, support the setting up of rooms and equipment, and make sure the buildings and grounds are ready for staff and learners each day.
It's a practical role suited to someone reliable and hands-on, who takes pride in a well-run site and is happy to turn their hand to whatever the day brings.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out routine caretaking duties, minor repairs and general maintenance across the site.
- Opening, closing and securing the buildings, and responding to issues as they arise.
- Setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for lessons, meetings and events.
- Monitoring the condition of buildings and grounds and reporting faults for further action.
- Supporting health and safety checks and following site procedures at all times.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Experience in a caretaking, premises or general maintenance role
- Practical skills across a range of basic repair and maintenance tasks
- A reliable, flexible approach and the ability to work on your own initiative
- An understanding of health and safety in a working environment
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience of working in a school, college or similar setting
- A relevant maintenance or health and safety qualification
