Location: Bury St Edmunds
Salary: Up to £36,500 per annum
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and industry-experienced Plumbing & Gas Assessor to join our growing Construction and Building Services team in Bury St Edmunds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced plumbing professional looking to move into education and support the next generation of skilled tradespeople. No previous assessing experience is required, as full assessor qualifications and training will be provided and funded by the college.

As a Plumbing & Gas Assessor, you will work closely with apprentices and employers, supporting learners throughout their apprenticeship journey and assessing their competence in the workplace against industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Plumbing and Gas apprentices.
  • Carry out workplace assessments and reviews in line with apprenticeship standards.
  • Support apprentices to achieve their qualifications and end-point assessment requirements.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all assessment activities meet awarding body and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and documentation.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety, and safeguarding.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Plumbing.
  • Recent industry experience within plumbing and/or gas engineering.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and support learners of varying abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport.

Desirable Requirements

  • Gas qualifications and experience.
  • Apprenticeship or vocational training experience.
  • Assessing qualification (A1, D32/D33, CAVA or equivalent).

Candidates without an assessing qualification are strongly encouraged to apply, as full training and qualifications will be provided.
