Featured partner role

Exams Officer

Run the exam centre at Oxford's oldest tutorial college, where every candidate gets proper individual care. You'll own the full exam cycle, from entries and invigilation to results, across AQA, OCR, Pearson, Cambridge International and more. You'll also be the calm, reassuring voice for students and families who've often travelled a long way to sit with you.

Greene's College Oxford

About the role

Greene's runs a busy exam centre with a difference. Candidates come from far and wide, many with complex access arrangements or circumstances that make a big centre a non-starter. Here, everyone is treated as an individual.

As Exams Officer, you'll run the whole operation day to day, working closely with the Head of Centre. That means keeping every series accurate and compliant with JCQ and awarding body rules, and being the calm, helpful contact candidates and families can rely on when exams feel stressful.

It's a role for someone who loves a well-run process and genuinely cares about the people going through it.

Key responsibilities

  • Run the exam cycle end to end: timetabling, invigilation, secure storage of papers, exam-day admin, script dispatch, results and post-results services
  • Support the Head of Centre with candidate entries and registrations, hitting every awarding body deadline
  • Manage NEA administration and submissions
  • Put access arrangements in place with the SENCo, in line with JCQ regulations
  • Keep exam data, records and documentation accurate and up to date
  • Lead the annual review of exam policies
  • Produce timetables, candidate instructions and exam information
  • Handle candidate, parent and client enquiries with care, especially where circumstances are complex
  • Oversee trial (mock) exams for Greene's students and external candidates
  • Recruit, train, brief and rota the invigilation team, with contingency plans ready for disruption
  • Release results securely and on time, and manage reviews of marking, access to scripts, appeals and certificates

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Experience in exams administration (preferred), or another regulated setting where accuracy, procedure and firm deadlines matter
  • Strong organisation and time management, juggling priorities without missing deadlines
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Confident with admin, IT, data and systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A friendly, professional and confident manner with candidates, parents and clients
  • A real commitment to great customer service
  • Calm and solution-focused when things get busy
  • Happy working independently and as part of a small team
  • A clear understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding

Desirable

  • Experience in an over-16 education setting
  • Knowledge of JCQ regulations and awarding body procedures, including Cambridge International and Pearson International
  • Experience with exam access arrangements
  • Experience in a commercial or client-facing role in education or another regulated environment

Benefits

  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, including 7–8 days at Christmas when the college closes
  • Time off in lieu for significant extra hours during exam periods
  • Some remote working considered outside exam periods
  • A small, friendly and supportive team
  • A central Oxford base at the city's oldest tutorial college

About Greene's College Oxford

About the Organisation

Founded in 1967, Greene's College Oxford is the city's oldest tutorial college. It's a small, independent further education college in the heart of Oxford, offering highly personalised GCSE and A level programmes built around each student.

Alongside teaching, Greene's runs a busy, well-regarded exam centre for its own students and private candidates, covering AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel, Eduqas, Cambridge International and Pearson International. Many candidates travel a long way to sit with Greene's, often because they need access arrangements or a calmer setting than a large centre can give them.

The team is small, close-knit and supportive. People work across departments, hold themselves to high standards and muck in when it matters.

Since this is the default for all Greene's adverts, I've kept the exam centre detail in without tying it to the Exams Officer role. I can trim it to a two-line version if your template runs short.
