Shape the Future of Technical Education

We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational leader to join Croydon College’s senior curriculum team as Director of Faculty – Construction, Engineering & Science.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a diverse and growing faculty encompassing Construction, Engineering, Motor Vehicle and Science programmes from Level 1 through to levels 4 and 5. You will play a pivotal role in driving curriculum innovation, strengthening employer partnerships and ensuring our provision meets the evolving skills needs of the local community and wider economy.

As a member of the College Management Team, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, excellent student outcomes and a culture of high expectations for both staff and students.

Key responsibilities

About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Principal, you will:

  • Lead and inspire curriculum teams to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Drive improvements in student achievement, attendance, retention and progression.
  • Develop and implement a responsive curriculum that aligns with local and regional skills priorities.
  • Lead quality assurance, self-assessment and continuous improvement activities across the faculty.
  • Build strong partnerships with employers, stakeholders and community organisations.
  • Support the successful delivery and development of T Levels, apprenticeships and higher-level technical qualifications.
  • Manage resources effectively to ensure sustainable growth and excellent value for money.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture where staff and students can thrive.

What we are looking for

You will be a highly effective educational leader with:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DET or equivalent).
  • Significant management experience within Further Education.
  • A proven track record of improving quality, achievement and student outcomes.
  • Experience of leading curriculum areas within Construction, Engineering, Motor Vehicle or Science.
  • Strong knowledge of quality improvement, curriculum development and performance management.
  • Experience of developing employer partnerships and responding to local skills needs.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and lead teams through change and continuous improvement.
