About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in a rapidly growing college, shaping provision at the forefront of regional and national priorities and helping to drive construction growth, green skills development and the future workforce.
As a key member of the Extended Leadership Group, you will provide strategic leadership across 16–18, adult and apprenticeship provision, driving high levels of achievement, progression and learner success. You will ensure learners develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to progress into employment, further study and higher-level training aligned to the evolving needs of industry.
We welcome applications from experienced managers across different trade departments, as well as Heads of Department who are ready to take the next step in their leadership career. This is an opportunity to broaden your leadership experience, influence a significant area of the college and play a key role in shaping its future direction.
You will lead a large and influential Directorate of over 1,200 learners and 80+ staff, with five direct reports comprising Learning Area Managers. You will develop a coherent skills pipeline from entry level through to advanced technical and higher-level pathways, ensuring consistent quality, strong performance and an excellent learner experience across the Directorate.
You will shape industry-led curriculum aligned to LSIP priorities, respond to significant regional growth through Brabazon and the West of England Innovation Arc, and strengthen collaborative delivery with Exeter College as the South West technical excellence partner for construction.
With the college continuing to grow and invest in its provision, you will have the opportunity to lead innovation, develop advanced technical and higher-level programmes, strengthen employer partnerships and build a sustainable pipeline of skilled talent. Your leadership will help ensure learners are equipped to progress into high-quality, skilled and sustainable employment within a rapidly evolving construction and technical sector.
