Mechanical Engineering Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East Midlands
Start date: November 2026
Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional looking to inspire the next generation of engineers?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the East Midlands, delivering mechanical engineering teaching across classroom and workshop settings. You'll draw on your own industry experience to bring the subject to life for learners preparing for careers in engineering and manufacturing.
You'll plan and deliver practical and theory sessions, assess learner work and support individuals to progress, working alongside an established engineering curriculum team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, industry-relevant sessions in mechanical engineering.
- Teaching and assessing learners in both classroom and workshop environments.
- Developing teaching and learning resources that reflect current industry practice.
- Assessing learner work and giving timely, constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and supporting individuals to achieve their qualifications.
- Contributing to high standards of teaching, learning and assessment within the curriculum team.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Relevant industry experience within a mechanical engineering environment
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for developing others
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Previous experience of teaching or assessing in further education
