Maths Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the North East
Start date: 8 October 2026
About the Role
You'll join an education provider in the North East to deliver high-quality maths teaching to learners working towards their qualification as part of a wider study programme.
You'll plan and deliver lessons that make maths accessible to groups of mixed ability, many of whom are returning to the subject after a difficult first experience of it. Working alongside the wider maths team, you'll help learners build the numeracy skills they need for work, further study and everyday life.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and accessible maths lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
- Planning and preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Tracking learner progress, marking work and providing timely feedback.
- Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
- Working collaboratively with the maths team and wider curriculum staff.
- Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience of teaching maths in further education or secondary education
- A maths-specific qualification or a strong numeracy background
- Ability to differentiate and adapt your teaching to varied learning needs
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised UK teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DET or a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
- Understanding of effective resit strategies
If you're ready to help learners succeed in maths, we'd love to hear from you.
