Maths Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the South West
Start date: October 2026
Are you a maths specialist who enjoys helping learners build the confidence and numeracy skills they need for work, further study and everyday life?
About the Role
You will deliver engaging, accessible maths lessons to learners of mixed abilities, many of whom are working towards maths alongside a wider study programme. You'll plan lessons that meet learners where they are and help them make genuine progress.
Working as part of a supportive maths team with a further education provider in the South West, you'll track progress, give timely feedback and help learners who have gaps in their knowledge rebuild their confidence and motivation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering maths lessons to learners of varying abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learner work and providing clear, timely feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and supporting those with gaps in their knowledge.
- Working collaboratively with the maths team and wider curriculum staff.
- Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience teaching maths within further education or secondary education
- A maths-specific qualification or a strong numeracy background
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised UK teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DET or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
If you're ready to help learners succeed in maths, we'd love to hear from you.
