Maths Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East of England
Start date: September 2026
Are you a maths specialist who enjoys helping learners build the confidence to succeed?
About the Role
You'll join the maths team at a further education provider, delivering engaging lessons to learners across a range of study programmes and supporting them to develop the numeracy skills they need for work, further study and everyday life.
You'll plan and prepare schemes of work and resources, assess learner work and track progress, giving the timely feedback and encouragement that keeps learners moving forward. You'll also work alongside colleagues across the curriculum to maintain high standards and a positive learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and accessible maths lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
- Planning schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learner work, giving timely feedback and tracking progress.
- Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building confidence and motivation.
- Working collaboratively with the maths team and wider curriculum staff.
- Maintaining high standards of classroom management.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong subject knowledge in maths, with a degree-level qualification or equivalent
- Experience teaching maths in further education or secondary education
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DET or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
- Experience supporting GCSE resit learners
